Mothers hold a very special place in our hearts. No matter who you are, your mother figure shaped who you are today. Maybe you have other special mother figures in your life aside from your birth mom – be it a stepmom, an aunt, a mother-in-law, or a close family friend who helped raise you and guide you in life. All of these women deserve recognition and appreciation.
Every Mother’s Day is an opportunity to show the maternal figures in your life how much they mean to you with a special gift. Jewelry is one of the best gifts you can choose for your mother. It’s something meaningful that she can cherish for years to come and will remind her of your bond.
Buying something you know she will like and that truly expresses what she means to you can be a challenge. After all, she raised you, taught you the basics of life, and made sacrifices all for your sake. How do you get a gift that even begins to say “thank you” for all of the love she’s given you?
This guide will show you choice selections from this spring’s fashions that will let her know how much you care this Mother’s Day. We’ll walk you through some of the most popular choices and show you jewelry pieces that have meaning behind them to make them extra special. Once she opens her gift and wears it for the first time, she will never want to take it off.
No one is ever too old for jewelry in the shape of a heart. It might be popular among teens, but there are upscale versions for sophisticated ladies as well. Moms especially love getting heart-shaped jewelry from someone they love, so you can’t really go wrong with this option.
There are several directions you can go with heart-shaped jewelry and it all depends on her personal style. One large heart that’s outlined in gemstones would make a brilliant statement piece. Some eye-catching drop earrings with sparkle would fall in line nicely with the spring trends. Multiple tiny hearts add some cute flair to her look while still staying classy.
Heart-shaped gemstones are one of our specialties at Lavari. Rose gold is particularly in this season, and we think your mother will love the diamond heart outline earrings in 10K rose gold we have in stock right now. The shine of the diamonds make them dainty yet noticeable and the rose gold setting gives this look a warm tone.
If you’re looking from something with color and pizzazz, take a look at our multi-heart gemstone bracelet with diamond accent. Of course, red and pink are classic colors for a heart-shaped gemstone, but the stones on this bracelet can be in a rainbow of colors of your choosing – from blue to green to orange. A Bouquet of Flowers
Most women are attracted to flowers and moms are no exception. She may or may not love receiving a bouquet of roses for a special occasion, but some adorable rosebuds or tulips are always welcome when they come wrapped in silver or gold.
Even if your mom doesn’t have a green thumb, she’ll take pride in wearing something floral from her beloved son or daughter this Mother’s Day. May is the last month before summer starts and things get too hot for some of Mother Nature’s most beautiful flowers. So this is an opportunity to celebrate spring and embrace the colors of the season before things the season ends.
Of course, there’s a lot of flexibility and creativity to be found in flower jewelry designs. Flowers come in so many colors and varieties that the possibilities are always fruitful. Her tastes might gravitate toward something showy and colorful, or she may be more of a subtle, single rose kind of woman.
Not sure what her particular style is? Not to worry – we have a gorgeous staple piece that we think she would love. Our floral pendant necklace in sterling silver and cubic zirconia is classic for casual or formal wear and is sure to make her feel beautiful this Mother’s Day.
Florals are in this spring, and you won’t believe all the varieties of shapes and designs out there. Shiny, bright enamel is one of the top elements you’ll find in floral, plus look for big dangly earrings dolled up with crystals and pearls to get the hottest styles. Stars in Her Eyes
Mothers are our guiding stars and are a light in the darkness even when things aren’t going our way. Show your own mom – or another maternal figure in your life, be it an aunt or a family friend – that you’ve noticed her being there for you all these years. Be confident that she will light up when she sees a star-shaped pendant or earrings to add to her jewelry collection.
Another big trend for the spring 2019 season is jewelry inspired by the heavens, so jewelry featuring stars will fit right in with the current popular fashions. It’s lovely to spend an evening looking up at the sky and being mesmerized by its celestial bodies. Such a gift will remind her the beauty that the world has to offer in special moments like this.
If you’re searching for some divine inspiration on what kind of design to select, look no further. We suggest our sterling silver cubic zirconia starburst necklace to brighten her day. The pendant is large enough to catch the eye but not so much as to shine brighter than she does.
She gave birth to you, but you’re just as grateful that she was brought into this world. What better way to tell her that than a birthstone pendant, ring or earrings set? The gemstone designated for her very own birth month will make her feel special and unique – which of course, she is!
Each month has a particular gemstone associated with it. These birthstones are believed to have their origin in the Bible and the 12 original birthstones correspond to the 12 tribes of Israel. In Exodus 28, the tribes are represented as 12 gemstones on a breastplate that Moses made for Aaron, the High Priest of the Hebrews.
Over the years, the stones eventually became associated with the 12 months of the year. Some of the gemstones have changed and others have been added to expand the list.
Not sure what her birthstone is? We’ve got you covered. Here is a quick and dirty reference for buying her birthstone jewelry.
January: Starting off the year is the garnet, which is typically dark red in color, though it can be found in a range of other colors. It also happens to be the state mineral of Connecticut and New York and Idaho’s state gemstone.
February: Amethyst, a purple variety of quartz, is the birthstone for February. This versatile gem has been used in jewelry since the times of Ancient Greece. Today, it is cherished as a stone that brings good luck and positivity.
March: Traditionally, aquamarine, a light blue semi-precious stone, represents March. The ancient Romans believed aquamarine was an energizing stone. Bloodstone, also known as heliotrope, is an alternative birthstone for March and is a variety of dark green jasper with red flecks.
April: Those born in the month of April are granted the privilege of calling the diamond their birthstone. Believed to have been first discovered in India, diamonds are now prized around the world for their beauty and sparkle. Diamonds are actually a solid form of carbon – much different than their original form!
May: The green gem emerald is for May babies and is reminiscent of the green growth of spring. One of the world’s largest emeralds is the Bahia emerald found in Brazil. It weighs 752 pounds (about 1,700,000 carats) and is valued at approximately $400 million.
June: Pearl is the most popular birthstone for June, and is unique in that it is made within the shell of a clam instead of in the earth. They are typically round and smooth with a characteristic iridescent shine. If you’re looking for something different, alexandrite and moonstone are alternative birthstones for this month.
July: Hot like the summer sun, rubies represent July and are usually seen in red, though they come in pink varieties as well. It is highly valued as a precious gemstone, especially in its deepest red colors – called blood red or pigeon red. The Smithsonian National Museum of History hosts some of the world’s largest and most valuable rubies.
August: Another green birthstone is peridot, for those born in the month of August. It is usually founds in jewelry as an olive to lime green gemstone. Interestingly, peridot crystals have been found on some meteorites that fell from the sky.
September: Sapphires reign over September birthdays and are a precious stone with regal significance. The 65th anniversary of the reign of Queen Elizabeth II of England was celebrated with a sapphire jubilee in 2017 (other jubilee years are named for silver, gold, and diamond). This was a special case – typically, sapphire represents a 45th anniversary, so it’s great for a wedding anniversary gift, too.
October: Those born in October get opal as their birthstone, which is also the national gemstone of Australia. There are two types of opal: precious and common. The main difference is that precious opals have an iridescent sheen while common opals do not.
November: Orange topaz, also known as precious topaz, is November’s birthstone – kind of fitting due to the orange colors of fall and Thanksgiving. This stone is also a symbol of friendship. Topaz comes in a natural golden brown and is thus often confused for the similarly colored citrine (which is an alternative November birthstone.)
December: A relatively new addition to the birthstone list is tanzanite, a blue to violet stone named after Tanzania, the country where it was discovered. Other birthstones for December include turquoise and zircon.
There are several pieces in our collection that make lovely birthstone jewelry gifts but won’t break the bank. Take a look at the gorgeous sterling silver pear-shaped birthstone ring in a range of genuine gemstones. All of our gemstones are conflict-free, so you can be sure you’re giving her a real birthstone without worrying about its source.
